The 6th annual Independent Handbag Designer Awards ceremony took place Wednesday night at the Time & Life building in New York City this week. Even though I was a judge—and viewed more than 1,000 handbag entries from around the world in the judging process—I had no idea who was going to win come awards night. Find out which independent designers across seven categories won over at InStyle.com, including my faves, the classic and timeless handbag by J.Lane and Ita Collection’s bright clutch. I paired David Peck’s gorgeous white silk dress with yellow silk Prada pumps that have a gold heel; a seashell-inspired vintage clutch that I scored from Elba at the Seventh Avenue flea market in Park Slope, Brooklyn; a huge Marc Jacobs bobble ring, and colorful vintage clip-on earrings, a gift from my younger sister.
